February is for Sharing the Love!

I love the month of February! February was when I met my prince charming and also the month I married him. It was the month that my life changed forever! Our first real date was Valentine's Day and we married on Valentine's Day 3 years later.  We have been married for 8 years and have a great relationship.  One thing I have always loved about our relationship is receiving and giving little surprises or unexpected gestures.  They are nice little reminders that show we are thinking of each other.  Plus, it's fun and makes you feel special.

With our anniversary coming up I wanted to do something a little different.  So I counted back 30 days from February 14th and started my first of 30 texts to my husband called - 30 Reasons Why I Love You!  Each day I send him a new text with a different reason.  After the 2nd day he caught on to what I was doing and decided to start texting me the 30 reasons why he loves me.  I must say, it has been a lot of fun sending the texts back and forth each day.  It also makes us really think about the reasons we do love each other.  Some of the reasons have been sweet compliments, some romantic and sexy, and some very funny!  Some times in relationships we take each other for granite and need to be reminded why we fell in love in the beginning.

Get Egg-cited over each other again!

There are 14 days left until Valentine's Day.  You should start texting your spouse the - 14 Reason Why I Love You!  Dig in the past and start with one of the reasons you first fell in love.  In your first text, type...you will have to wait until tomorrow to read the 13th reason I love you.  Maybe he will catch on to and start texting you back.  Share your love with each other, even when your are not physically together!

Have fun!

Make Ahead Monday Dinner Review!

Tonight we had Creamy Potato Soup.  Everyone gave this soup a thumbs up.  My daughter and husband gave it an 8, my son gave it a 10 and asked for a second bowl and I gave it a 9.  This is the first time I made soup in the crock pot and it was quite easy.  The potatoes were cooked perfect and weren't mushy.  The soup was creamy and not to thin or thick.  My family said they would like to try this soup again with ham in it.  I definitely recommend this crock pot soup.

Make Ahead Monday Recipe!

I will be making Creamy Potato Soup in my crock pot on Monday. After dinner my family will give a review of how they liked or disliked it. Below is the recipe.

Creamy Potato Soup

6 slices bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 onion, finely chopped
2 (10.5 oz.) cans condensed chicken broth
2 cups of water
5 large potatoes, diced
1/2 teas. salt
1/2 teas. pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups half-and-half cream
1 (12 fluid oz.) can evaporated milk

Place bacon and onion in a large skillet.  Cook over medium heat until bacon is browned and onions are soft.  Drain off excess grease.

Pour bacon and onion mixture into slow cooker, add chicken broth, water, potatoes, salt and pepper.  Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours.

(The last 30 minutes of cooking) In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and half-and-half.  Stir into the soup along with the evaporated milk.  Cover and cook another 30 minutes before serving.

I invite all of you to join me on MAKE AHEAD MONDAY and make this crock pot meal and have your family review and rate it. Then post your review in the comments of my review post. My family loves rating the meal. Get your family involved they will love reviewing it with you.

I am always looking for a new recipe to try. So, any of my followers who join in the fun, post a review with a photo of the meal can send me a recipe to try. When we try your recipe I will mentioned your blog, a brief description of your blog and a link to your blog.
