Homemade Pie is the best!

Give your Holiday pies a little extra love this year.  Forget those frozen pie crusts, it's time you dust off your Joys of Cooking cookbook and make them from scratch.  Gold Medal Flour is offering a $.25 coupon to help you purchase the flour.  Click here for the coupon.  If you shop at Target you can save another $.50 using Target's coupons.

This year you will be able to take full credit for making the whole pie, that's if it tastes good.  If it doesn't taste good, you can alway blame it on being store bought! (that's our little secret)

Make Ahead Monday Dinner Review!

Sorry I am posting this after 8 pm.   This was one of those nights where I was on the go and ate late!  Tonight we had Chicken and Roasted Vegetable Dinner.  There was only 3 of us tonight.  The meal had nice flavor and the house smelled great when we walked in.  The chicken was a little on the dry side, but the vegetable were very good.  The small pearl onions really added to the flavor.  When I asked my 6 year old how he liked it, he said the chicken was dry and he didn't like the vegetables.  So I guess tonight only the adults in the house like dinner.  My husband and I rate this meal a 7.

Today my husband took the picture for me because I wasn't home when they started eating.  So this was the best picture of the two.  I am still laughing at the second picture.  I asked him to take one of the crock pot and one with the food on the plate.  Let's just say he tried and I love him for helping me out with my blog.

If you have a recipe you would like us to try, let me know. We would love to try it!

The recipe for this was posted yesterday if you would like to try it.

Make Ahead Monday Recipe!

I will be making Chicken and Roasted Vegetables Dinner in my crock pot on Monday. After dinner my family will give a review of how they liked or disliked it. Below is the recipe.

Chicken and Roasted Vegetables Dinner

1 lb. unpeeled small potatoes (6-8)
2 cups ready-to-eat baby carrots
1 cup frozen small whole onions (from 1 lb. bag) thawed
6 boneless skinless chicken thighs
1/2 teas. salt
1/8 teas. pepper
1 jar (12 oz) chicken gravy
1 1/2 cups Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers frozen sweet peas, thawed

Spray 3-4 quart slow cooker with cooking spray.  Place vegetables, except peas in the bottom.  Sprinkle chicken thighs with salt and pepper and place over vegetables.  Pour gravy over top.

Cover, cook on low heat setting for 8-10 hours.  Stir in peas.  Increase heat setting to HIGH.  Cover; cook 15 minutes longer or until peas are tender.

I invite all of you to join me on MAKE AHEAD MONDAY and make this crock pot meal and have your family review and rate it. Then post your review in the comments of my review post. My family loves rating the meal.  Get your family involved they will love reviewing it with you.

I am always looking for a new recipe to try. So, any of my followers who join in the fun, post a review with a photo of the meal can send me a recipe to try. When we try your recipe I will mentioned your blog, a brief description of your blog and a link to your blog.  If you don't have a blog and you join in on the fun, I will just post your first name and last initial.

Hope to see you in the kitchen tomorrow!
