FOODIE FRIDAY PIZZA PICK REVIEW!

Mad Moose House of Barbecue and Woodfire Pizza was our pick for the week.  I ordered the pizza for 4:45 pm.  When I arrived at 4:45 the pizza was ready and hot...no waiting!  The pizza was a thin crust round gourmet plain pie.  The slices were a little smaller.  The crust was very thin and cooked perfect.  The woodfire oven gave the pizza a taste like no other.  We really enjoyed the blend of flavors on the pizza.  Let me tell you...that was one awesome pizza!  We will definitely get pizza from Mad Moose House of Barbecue and Woodfire Pizza again in the future!

Follow our Pizza Pick circuit and try Mad Moose House of Barbecue and Woodfire Pizza for yourself.

I will be drawing the FREE Pizza winner at 8:00 pm.  Make sure you tell your family and friends to LIKE my Facebook page or email me at savingandsharingit@yahoo.com for their chance to win a FREE Pizza!

Your local library is a great resource for FREE Family Fun!

I recently took my 5 year old son to the Broome County Public Library.  He was so excited to get his own library card and couldn't wait to go in the children's section.  If you haven't taken your child to this or any other local library, you should make it a point in the future.  He had so much fun playing on the kids computer and with the interactive toys, I had to remind him that we still needed to pick out a book.  He found a book and wanted to read while we were there because they have really cool areas to sit and read books with your kids.

Before we left he found the movie section and had to pick out a movie also to take home.  We left the library with 2 books and 1 movie.  We had a great time and it didn't cost us a penny!

The library has both adult and children's movies that you can take out for 1 week and the books you can take out for 3 weeks.  The library also offers many FREE fun activities for you and your child throughout the month.   Visit their website by clicking here to learn more.

Enjoy reading with your children!

SAVE MONEY WITH DIY GARDENING!

Another way you can save money is to grow your own vegetables and herbs.  I asked a friend of mine who has been a home gardener for many years to give us some of his gardening tips.  Each week on Thursday, I will post GARDENING WITH MR. C.  Make sure you check back each week for a new tip.

GARDENING TIP #1

I commend all of you who are participating in the marvel of growing vegetables, berries, flowers etc.  I hope to share something new each week that may be a benefit to you.  For my first tip, may I say that "beds" are not just for flowers.  You can use your space more efficiently by planting in beds instead of rows.  Making the transition will take some planning and extra effort.  I made permanant 2 1/2 ft. beds with 12 to 15 inch paths.  If you have a long reach you could widen the beds.

First prepare (till or turn) the garden as you normally would. Then dig out the soil in the paths to build up the beds. You can go a step farther and border the beds with pressure-treated 2x4 (as I am glad I did after several years).  By walking only in the established paths, you can just loosen the beds each year with a spading fork as needed. When planting the seeds, I use the width of the hoe to dig a furrow to get a wider row. You can plant 2 or 3 rows of the same or different things in each bed. With a little planning, you can get an early and late crop in the same space (ex. peas followed by beans). For larger plants like tomatos, I stagger (zig-zag) two rows to get 18" spacing. Peppers like to be closer to one another (12 to 15").  If you want to create an any-size no-dig, no till "lasagna" garden, I suggest you click here Have fun planning and planting your garden.

Happy Gardening -  Mr. C.

Make Ahead Monday Dinner Review!

My family gave this dinner a 8 out of 10.  My family liked the Root Beer Roast.  The roast had great flavor, very different then our normal roast beef.  The beef was juicy and fell apart.  My kids weren't to fond of the onions and little pieces of peppers from the chili sauce.  That didn't surprise me though.  We will definitely make this again!

HOW WE RATE THE DINNER FROM 1 - 10 .

1 - PLEASE DON'T MAKE THAT AGAIN!
5 - IT WAS OKAY WE CAN TRY IT AGAIN!
10 - THAT WAS AWESOME CAN WE HAVE THAT AGAIN!

Thank you Debby for the recipe.

Make Ahead Monday!

As a busy mom on the go having all or part of dinner ready when we get home is a huge time saver.

Today's Make Ahead Monday dinner choice is Root Beer Roast.

Recipe:

1 - Chuck Roast
1 - Bottle of Chili Sauce
16 oz. Root Beer (NOT Diet)
1 - Red Onion Sliced
Chopped Garlic (to your liking)

TIME SAVER:  Use a large crockpot liner in the crockpot for easy clean up.

Place roast in bottom of crockpot.  Mix chili sauce and root beer and pour over roast.  Top with onions and garlic.  Cook on low for 6 hours.

Debby M. suggested we try this recipe.  Thank you Debby for the new recipe.

Stay tuned for our families review of this Make Ahead Monday dinner.
